Art has the intuitive ability to overcome cultural differences as if it were a second language that brings people together from all walks of life. As such Central Park Towers has once again assembled a collection of art work from a wide range of people and nationalities (29), under the name Common Ground, demonstrating the extraordinary power art inherently possesses in unifying communities.

The exhibition hosted throughout November by Central Park Towers and curated by Gallery Arabesque, held its opening reception yesterday evening to a large audience of Dubai’s art community and art lovers exceeding expectations.  Under the patronage of Dr. Salah Al Qassim, advisor to Dubai Arts & Culture and an icon in the UAE arts community, Common Ground Art Exhibition is a community initiative in line with the Year of Tolerance pillars, designed to highlight the values of tolerance and collaboration.

The exhibition’s call for entries received hundreds of submissions representing many nationalities. The selection committee members found the task of choosing which art works to showcase slightly challenging as the submission numbers and quality were impressive with members commenting that whilst the selection process was difficult, they were pleased to see such a great response to the exhibition and a variety of mediums, creativity, and positivity.

Dr. Salah Al Qassim congratulated the artists in an opening speech saying “The Common Ground Art exhibition is a wonderful representation of the diverse talent in our local art community providing them with the opportunity to connect with likeminded individuals, bridging cultural differences and building on community strengths. As we celebrate the year of tolerance, the spirit of collaboration and community found amongst the organizers and artists echoes our nation’s commitment to the arts and to the principals of tolerance furthering cultural exchange.”

Commenting on the exhibition, Susan Mikloska, Director of Marketing for Central Park Towers said “This exhibition follows on a number of successful art exhibitions that Central Park Towers has hosted; ranging from photography to calligraphy alongside sculpture work and canvas art. We continue to support the local art community by providing space for artists to showcase their work as we believe in the importance art has in our society. We are pleased to be hosting this special exhibition and are grateful for the wonderful support we have received from Dr Salah Al Qassim and the selection committee.”

Curator of the exhibition Bassem Zbeeb, Director of Gallery Arabesque, said ““This exhibition has a wonderful representation of many styles of art. It features some of the extraordinary talented artists in the UAE. Many of the art works are for sale giving the public an opportunity to purchase original art at affordable prices.”

Common Ground Art Exhibition is inspired by the values of the Year of Tolerance and coincides with the International Day of Tolerance on November 16th. The exhibition celebrates the diversity & talent of our local art community. The exhibition will run until December 5 and is open from 8 am to 11 pm daily.  For more information please call 050 2010042.
