Acwa Power, a leading developer, investor and operator of power generation, green hydrogen and desalinated water plants worldwide, is showcasing its portfolio of renewable energy solutions at the 23rd Water, Energy, Technology and Environment exhibition (Wetex), which opened today (October 5) in Dubai.

This year, in its 23rd round, Wetex is going to be more critical than ever due to the economic implications incited by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prioritising innovation today is key to unlocking growth and Wetex is the ideal platform that gathers stakeholders, governments and companies who are eager to explore and reciprocate insights and visions on forward-looking smart technologies and electrification solutions for a collective prosperous future.

The event will address important topics on rapid changes and challenges in the energy, water and environment sectors in addition to exploring best practices and green solutions to counter environmental challenges.

As a jubilee sponsor, Acwa Power aims to cement its role as a global accelerator of energy transformation at this year's event, said a statement from the company.

The Saudi company will be exhibiting its record-breaking projects in the UAE that has played an instrumental role in lowering tariff levels in the global renewable energy and water desalination sectors and opened new opportunities in energy efficiency and water production.

These include Shuaa Energy 1, (MBR Solar Park Phase II); Noor Energy 1 (MBR Solar Park Phase IV), Shuaa Energy 3 (MBR Solar Park Phase V); Umm Al Quwain IWP; and Taweelah IWP, the largest desalination project in the world, it stated.

With a constantly evolving portfolio of clean energy plants, Acwa Power has been a prominent contributor to the development, investment, and operation of renewable energy plants internationally, with 77% of its current global portfolio utilising low carbon or renewable energy sources, he noted.

Abunayyan also highlighted that Acwa Powers participation at this years edition will emphasise on the companys efforts to lead the energy transition globally to enable the economic, social and environmental sustainability plans for countries and communities.

It is partaking in five leading seminars at the event with its Chief Portfolio Management Officer and Acting Investment Officer Rajit Nanda joining a session alongside industry experts to discuss the future of solar energy in the Middle East.

Chief Technology Officer Bart Boesman will run a seminar on Disrupting, Emerging and Innovating Technologies in Energy, Water and Environment while its Chief Digital Officer Alvaro Perez will lead a robust session on how digitalisation is applied to decarbonisation and the role of artificial intelligence and machine learning in renewables.

Meriem Bellizem, Business Development, Senior Manager will run a session on empowering women to take leading role in the energy transition and finally Dr Andrea Lovato, VP and Head of Renewables Development will lead a session on renewable energy being a catalyst for rapid decarbonisation.
