Abu Dhabi City Municipality – The Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) has received 100 interns from universities, colleges and institutes for the 2018 edition of the Summer Training Programme held annually by the Municipality

The program echoes the unlimited support of Abu Dhabi Government to citizens through running community development programmes to prepare students for steering the development drive of the country. It equips them with knowledge and skills that contribute to nurturing an educated generation capable of leading the development drive in various fields.

The summer training programme reflects the vision of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities – Abu Dhabi City Municipality – to train Emiratis and groom them for practical jobs and assuming responsibility. It also cements the partnership between the Municipality and educational institutes with the aim of establishing a link between the theoretical and practical fields; which reflects positively on students and instil them with more experiences. The internship programme reflects the commitment of the Municipal System to the social responsibility, develop resources, besides qualifying and integrating interns in the work environment.

The Municipality welcomed the students and called them to capitalize on this opportunity to gain practical knowledge, skills and experience that assist them to carry out jobs that shape their careers. An induction ceremony was held to welcome interns through which an introduction was made about the Municipality along with its history and achievements.

The Municipality plays a pioneering role in holding training courses, which had attracted considerable numbers over the past years. The Programme demonstrates the vision and direction of Abu Dhabi Government to care for citizens through offering community development programmes to improve their abilities and experiences.

Salim Al Hosani, Head of Training Section at the Municipality delivered a speech in the reception ceremony in which he focused on the Municipality’s efforts to establish a base for communication and active interaction with the academic institutions across the UAE. “The Municipality is keen to run a modern programme that caters to development of Emirati human resources through welcoming a group of students and subjecting them to integrated summer training modules. The Municipality is seeking to nurture a perfect training environment fitted with sufficient resources to improve the training content. It also seeks to develop new training techniques for dealing with interns and considering them as part of the organization chart of the Municipality. The summer training programme of the Municipality has therefore made considerable successes as it has proved serious and interactive throughout,” he added.

The summer training programme this season runs from 15 July to 13 August 2018 and is focused on equipping interns with practical skills to complement their academic studies; which will improve the quality of graduates and empower them to contribute to the comprehensive development of the nation. The Municipality offers interns exposure to diverse expertise and accordingly contribute to building a sustainable strategy and grooming a qualified generation capable of fulfilling the needs of development.

Besides training, interns will be offered a bursary for attending this training programme as a gesture of appreciation from the Municipality to their commitment and an incentive from the Government to students seeking to enhance their academic and practical knowledge.
