UAE, Dubai: The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) took part in the annual UAE eHealth Week which is organized by HIMSS, Dubai, with the participation of H.E. Awad Al Ketbi, Assistant Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention's Support Services Sector, Ms. Mubaraka Mubarak Ibrahim, Director of Information Technology Department, and Mr. Ali Alajmi, Director of Health Information Systems Department, in addition to leading experts in the healthcare in the UAE and around the world.

The discussions shed the light on the recent updates in the healthcare digitalization and the provision of innovative solutions in automation and health information management fields, in accordance with the highest international practices.

Keeping Pace with the Recent Technologies of Digital Health

Al Ketbi emphasized the importance of the UAE eHealth Week in developing the healthcare services, through health information systems and technology, to learn more about the latest updates of digital health technologies and new innovations.

“This, in turn, will help strengthen the healthcare experience, reduce expenditures and implement the best-approved practices, with a view to improving healthcare outcomes in the UAE, within the framework of reinforcing its leading position in health-services-related global indicators and achieving the global standards of healthcare quality,” Al Ketbi added.

Achieving the Transition to Smart Services

Al Ketbi said that MoHAP is keen on developing its E-health services according to the smart government enablers, by creating the operational plans to incorporate digital technologies and smart applications in order to improve healthcare safety and efficiency.

He further elaborated: “In order to do so, we depend on the management of massive data, predictive modelling, Block-chain technologies, in addition to using data analysis and Artificial Intelligence in medical services, with a percentage of 100%, in accordance with the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031, the National Agenda 2021 and the UAE Centennial 2071.”

Population Health Management

He underlined the significance of the National Unified Medical Records “Riayati”. “It is a digital health platform providing updated data for patient records. This programme helps promote and empower the UAE’s healthcare sector and develop health information systems, as well as the application of world-class standards in the management of medical facilities infrastructure and the development of appropriate technology for the population health management. Such a programme is clear-cut evidence on the UAE’ advanced position in healthcare technology,” said Al Ketbi.
