Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) praised the compliance of limousine operators and franchise taxi companies, working in tourism and recreational destinations in the emirate, with the rules and regulations governing these two sectors. It also hailed the improvements they have shown towards adding more happiness to clients including residents, visitors and tourists descending on the Emirate from all over the world. These statements are made following a series of inspections carried out by the Public Transport Agency on the limo and taxi companies operating under license from RTA, which form part of Dubai’s transport systems. The field inspections took place at the various shopping malls including Mirdif City Center, Deira City Center, Dubai Mall and Dubai Festival City.

“The inspection campaigns aimed to educate taxi drivers and limo chauffeurs about Dubai as a tourist and recreational destination, and the importance of compliance with the instructions and guidance relating to their business. Particular attention was given to the appearance as well as the cleaning of the interior and exterior of taxis and limousines,” said Saeed Al Balooshi, Director of Passengers Transport Activities Monitoring, Public Transport Agency, RTA.

“Over 4 days, our events and shopping centres organizing fields teams carried 321 inspections on taxis resulting in 28 offences, and 100 inspections on limos resulting in just 2 offences. The campaign identified vehicles that fall short of the required standards and cleaning instructions. Drivers were informed to care more for their hygiene and the cleanliness of their vehicles. They were reminded to comply with RTA’s instructions in this regard to reduce the number of complaints filed by riders,” said Al Balooshi.

“Field inspection teams of Passengers Transport Activities Monitoring Department carry out year-round inspection campaigns in several parts of Dubai to monitor violations and unacceptable activities that may undermine the tourist and service profile of the Emirate. The campaigns are part of RTA’s efforts to enhance the image of Dubai as a superb place for living and a fine destination for visitors and tourists characterised by safety, security, superior infrastructure and transport means par excellence,” added the Director of Passengers Transport Activities Monitoring.
