Mondrian Doha, Qatar’s luxurious and award-winning hotel, is pleased to announce that Mr. Wael Maatouk has been appointed as the hotel’s new General Manager. 

Maatouk joins Mondrian Doha from his previous posts as General Manager for hotels such as Sharq Village & Spa and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Qatar. With more than 20 years’ experience, and an astonishing record of success, Maatouk has demonstrated that he is an accomplished and knowledgeable leading figure in the hospitality industry regionally.

In his new role, Maatouk bring extensive experience in developing policy, strategic implementation, and the coordination of staff in all departments to guarantee a harmonious working system while adhering strictly to regulatory requirements. He has an impeccable focus on quality and ensuring the best guest experience. In his most recent appointment, Maatouk managed an important transition of rebranding and re-positioning a hotel to become the first LXR hotel in the world for the new Luxury Collection under the Hilton Corporation. 

A Canadian national with Lebanese roots, Maatouk is fluent in French, English and Arabic. He began his early career as a food and beverage professional in the hospitality industry in Beirut and moved to Montreal where he pursued his higher education. He holds a Master of Business Administration in Leadership and Management, a Bachelor of Arts in Hotel and Restaurant Management, and a Diploma in Hotel Management and Culinary Art.

Located in the heart of the West Bay, the 270-room Mondrian Doha, is designed in collaboration with world-renowned Dutch designer Marcel Wanders, and Southwest Architecture. The property incorporates customised Marcel Wanders design features with influences from local patterns, ornate Arabic writing and historic souks.

Mondrian Doha features eight restaurants and bars, including CUT by Wolfgang Puck and Japanese Morimoto Doha by Masaharu. The hotel also boasts one of the largest ESPA spa and a variety of stylish and unique options for meetings and special events including a 2,000 square-meter ballroom that can hold up to 1,500 guests.
