Abu Dhabi, UAE – Laboxatory, a groundbreaking initiative with a goal to prepare generations of students to take on the challenges of the 21st century, which is  starting at Krypto Labs, the global incubator for start-ups, has officially launched its Space Science Academy. The initiative aims to build a generation of science enthusiasts by teaching STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) experientially.

Laboxatory organized a one-week program in Krypto Labs, in Masdar city, Abu Dhabi,  aiming to deploy hands-on learning, like laser experiments and rocket launching models, while also providing mentorship from Astronaut Dr. Soyeon Yi, Professor of Physics of International Space. Laboxatory’s pedagogy involves showing the fundamentals of natural science to students rather than having them just read about it, by giving them a platform to explore their ambitions on space exploration and having trusted heroes as role models from the industry to provide an insight on their experience, as well as assist the students in conducting space experiments.

With more than 70 students (aged 13-16 years) attending the program, Laboxatory provided a unique set of activities for every day of the week. In groups, the students found the chance to work on fun science experiments to understand the fundamentals of Space technology, while also navigating through team-skills development activities. The students also had a fun Q&A session with Dr. Soyeon Yi, the First Korean Astronaut, where they had all their burning inquiries about life in a space shuttle answered, proving this launch to be an inspiring phenomenon to all those eager to explore and build their interest in STEM subjects.

Dr. Saleh Al Hashemi, Managing Director of Krypto Labs, and CEO of Algorythma, attended the launch, and observed as the students started their virtual journey to space, saying: “It is no secret that technology is changing the way we live, this is why we set educating the younger generations as one of our priorities at Algorythma. We need enthusiastic individuals who are scientifically literate to deal with many of the issues we face today, so a platform that helps develop their critical and analytical skills through experiments is crucial to increase the students' motivation to learn and enhance their perception, creativity, and logic.”

Dr. Mohammed Adnan, Scientist at Algorythma, welcomed the students on their first day of the program, and said: “In order to meet UAE 2030 vision of growing a local Aerospace industry, we aim to expose students to new role models and heroes of the industry who dedicate their lives for the betterment of the generations to come; in hopes of influencing our youth to advance technology for space sciences in the future.”

Laboxatory is sponsored by Algorythma, the first-rate end-to-end technology service company, Krypto Labs, the global incubator for start-ups, Loft Orbital, an Aerospace company based in the USA, and Alef Education, a technology-enabled education solution powered by Artificial Intelligence. Endorsed by UAE Space Agency, Laboxatory continues to innovate its cutting-edge methods of teaching the next generations and aims to support a creative outlet in Space Sciences for students in order to boost technological expansion, and to encourage and influence more women in the U.A.E to further pursue STEM related studies.
