Two-day event will feature a diverse range of engaging discussions around preparing talent for ‘Next Gen’ roles, youth empowerment and economic growth

Abu Dhabi, UAE: Nurturing the next generation of labour force contributors to shape a half-century of industrial growth and develop digitisation and sustainability strategies across vital economic sectors will fall under the spotlight at this year’s inaugural Youth Preparedness & Knowledge Economy Summit powered by Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) Academy, organised by Informa Connect in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Education.

Being held 20-21 September at ADGM Authorities Building, Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi, the new networking platform will see C-suite level speakers explore workable solutions for accelerating the country’s economic growth, boosting employment and enhancing UAE youths’ career preparedness.

At the Summit, Natalja Kissina, Vice President – HR of Gulf Countries at Schneider Electric, the multinational energy and automation leader, will deep-dive into the role of youth in empowering diversified economic performance during her keynote session: How a Leading Organisation is Taking the Lead in Promoting Apprenticeships.

Stressing the importance of cross-industry collaboration to ensure students have the relevant experiences to thrive in the future workplace, Kissina said: “The workplace is changing dramatically and organisations have to rethink how they engage and prepare youth to enter the workforce. The shifts towards digitalisation and sustainability, coupled with the rise of new concepts such as artificial intelligence, means businesses have to think hard about how they’re collaborating with governments, universities and young people to provide the knowledge and tools young people need to make the right career choices in coming years”.

Elsewhere, confirmed speakers from UAE entities including Tanfeeth and Etisalat will discuss: The Government’s Role in Supporting and Empowering Young Minds and Talent; Equipping Students for Predicted Future Skills; and The Benefits of an Apprenticeship. The diverse range of expert-led content will include industry-shaping sessions by a line-up of over 30 visionary speakers from entities including NYU Abu Dhabi, Jacobs, ACTVET, Etihad Aviation Group, SEDRA, Majid Al Futtaim, the Department of Health, and du.

Day one of the Summit will see a keynote by H.E. Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, the UAE Minister of Education, provide insights into the Ministry of Education’s post-COVID response and recovery strategy. Other opening sessions include: Empowering Youth to Shape the Future through Innovation and Technology; Preparing for the 4th Industrial Revolution; The Importance of Developing, Promoting and Retaining our Homegrown Experts in the Highly-Competitive Age of 'Talentism'; and Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility to Make the Future Work for All.

Also looking at cross-industry collaboration at the Summit will be Ameena Thabet, Executive Director – Human Capital and Emiratization at Mubadala Investment Company; “I am honored to be speaking at the very first edition of the Youth Preparedness & Knowledge Economy Summit powered by ADGM Academy, during a panel discussion titled Academia-Industry Collaboration: Supporting Youth in their Transition from Education into the Labor Market, where I will discuss guiding the younger generation for a fulfilling, impactful career in the workforce by leveraging strategic partnerships.

The Summit aims to highlight the importance of preparing the next generation for the future of work, in line with our vision at Mubadala to prioritize preparing and developing young UAE Nationals to thrive as members of the workforce. I look forward to sharing my insights and thoughts at the Summit, motivating the youth to remain prepared, work hard, and continue contributing to the UAE's positioning as a knowledge-based economy.”

Additionally, panel discussions will centre around Structuring a Competitive Curriculum for High-Quality Workforce Ready Graduates; Academia-Industry Collaborations; and Effective Professional Education for Increased Relevance in the Workplace.

Day two of the Summit will see an opening session by Dr. Amna AlDahak AlShamsi, Assistant Undersecretary for Care and Building Abilities Sector at the Ministry of Education, who will discuss a Holistic Approach for UAE Youth Capacity Building and Empowerment, highlighting the Ministry’s efforts and providing insight into various initiatives.

With advancements in technology disrupting the working environment and reshaping the required skillsets for the modern workplace, panel discussions on day two will centre around whether Success is Dependent Upon Core Academic Knowledge or Occupational Skills; The Role of Science, Technology and Innovation in Transforming UAE into a Knowledge-based Economy, and more.

The SEDRA Foundation for Inclusion, the official Knowledge and Inclusion Partner of the Summit, will be taking a look at the importance of shaping a shared future for and with Youth of Determination through their talk.
