Cairo: Stemming from its continuous efforts in supporting CSR initiatives and sustainable development in Egypt, Elsewedy Electric, the leading integrated energy and infrastructure solutions provider in Africa and the Middle East, has contributed in the establishment of the first-of-a-kind 3D Endoscopy Simulator Lab at Kasr Al Ainy Hospital. The hi-tech lab aims at building skills and training of professionals and surgeons at the obstetrics and gynecology department in the hospital. A number of public figures and philanthropists have contributed in bringing this project to life, with Elsewedy Electric and Eng. Ahmed El Sewedy, President and CEO, making the largest financial contribution. It is worth noting that this lab is the only and most comprehensive surgery simulation center in Egypt.

Professor Dr. Ihab Soliman-Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Kasr Al Ainy Hospital, explained that the lab has the only 3D VR hysteroscopy simulator in Egypt, which offers trainees virtual surgical training before practicing what they have learned in real-life surgeries. Dr. Ihab went on saying that VR surgical simulator is a key tool in the practical training of young doctors in the safest and most convenient manner, as the new technology eliminates any potential risks patients may experience, compared to conventional training.
“The lab provides advanced training on laparoscopy and hysteroscopy with the latest version of 3D surgical VR simulator” added Dr. Ahmed El Minawi-Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Head of Endoscopy Unit and Founder of the lab. “The simulator has special programs for tumor removal and hysterectomy, while performing laparoscopic surgeries very safely” added Dr. El Minawi while praising Elsewedy Electric’s efforts in establishing the new lab and the company’s support to other departments in Kasr El Ainy Hospital.
Furthermore, the lab will also be available for training young surgeons from other departments, including urology and general surgeons without any extra expenses. The contribution of Elsewedy Electric in this lab complements its efforts in supporting the healthcare sector in Egypt, and the company’s long-standing partnership with Kasr El Ainy Hospital. Elsewedy Electric has previously donated an advanced endoscopy to the hospital for early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of cholelithiasis.
