AMMAN – HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), will chair the “Consortium for Sustainable Urbanization” Advisory Board meeting which will discuss pressing matters relating to global sustainability in his capacity as chair of the Consortium.

The meeting is to be held digitally on 22nd September 2021 with the objective of adapting the work of the Consortium in accordance with the global environmental challenges. The meeting aims to address a number of pertinent issues including how it can attract youth to the work it is undertaking and how it can align better with similar organizations such as UN Habitat in turning the aspirations of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into reality. Along similar lines, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh was also recently invited by UN Habitat to their regional retreat as a keynote speaker to discuss sustainable urbanization in the Arab region.

The CSU was established by of Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh as chair of the United Nations Global Alliance for ICT and Development UNGAID that was launched in 2009. This was under the auspices of the then Secretary-General of the United Nations, to promote a better understanding of the role of sustainable urbanization and resilient design in city planning,  which includes Paris, Delhi, Seoul, Nairobi, London, Chicago, Houston, São Paulo, New York, Los Angeles, Copenhagen and Rio de Janeiro.

The Consortium for Sustainable Urbanization (CSU) is a non-profit organization, that works in cooperation with relevant United Nations agencies especially the urban cities and centers around the world. It is a professional global organization that aims to promote sustainable urban development through exchanging and disseminating knowledge and experience. Accordingly, the CSU holds press conferences, webinars, workshops and other events that bring together UN experts, city leaders, policymakers and various stakeholders who are involved in urban design, planning and publications. The Consortium further seeks to promote smart, sustainable urban development through the application of new and emerging digital technologies.
