Omani Minister of Health, Dr Ahmed Al Saidi, said in a statement: "There are a lot of traveler from and to the Sultanate and we must provide guidance and treatment services for them before traveling."
“Many diseases and epidemics that exist in other countries do not exist in the Sultanate, but if you do not take precautionary measures and if the providers of this service don't know what these diseases are and what precautions should be taken it will not be prevented.
“Even those returning from travel to Oman should not ignore health care. They need to be alert to new symptoms and go to health centres for diagnosis,” he added.
The minister stressed: "I ask citizens and residents to go to health centres before traveling to any country to know what epidemics have been spread there and what are the ways to prevent them and the ways of treatment."
"Unfortunately, there are cases of serious imported diseases such as malaria. As you know this year and last year, dengue fever spread in the Sultanate and the infections were imported from abroad and it was controlled," He explained.
"The health and human cost of these diseases are high. So I urge everyone to pay attention to this new specialisation in the Sultanate and the government will provide all what the traveller needs, whether it is awareness, vaccinations, medicines, and everyone is required to cooperate."
