UAE - Funeral prayers will be performed in all Sharjah mosques on Saturday to mourn Sheikh Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, who died on Thursday.

The prayer will follow Duhr prayer, the Sharjah Islamic Affairs Department (SIAD) revealed on Twitter.

SIAD said: "The prayer of the absent will be performed on the soul of the deceased, the late, Sheikh Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi - may God have mercy on him. [This will] immediately follow Dhuhr prayer in all mosques of the emirate of Sharjah.

"May God rest the soul of our deceased with mercy and contentment, and dwell in His spacious paradise."

According to a statement issued by the Royal Court on Thursday, Sheikh Ahmed passed away in UK on July 9.
