UAE - Abu Dhabi Police have urged families to take extra measures in protecting their children from falling off buildings or residential apartments and monitor them as they approach windows.

The police warned of the danger of leaving furniture near windows as children could use them to step on out of curiosity to look outside the windows, which may lead to tragic incidents.

The police explained that with the onset of winter, people are opening their windows to enjoy the pleasant weather, which leads to children looking out of windows out of curiosity.

In a statement issued today, Abu Dhabi Police stressed the need to establish controls for the use of balconies not only for young people but also for adults.

The police urged residents to install metal bars on the windows, which will protect children from falling - at the same time incorporate a simple mechanism that can be opened easily in case of an emergency.
