ABU DHABI, 25th April, 2017 (WAM) -- The Telecommunication Regularity Authority, TRA, has announced the implementation of price caps for Intra-GCC roaming services by UAE-based mobile operators resulting from the implementation of TRA Directive No. 04 of 2015 regarding Mobile Roaming Charges issued in September 2015. As a result, on average, the international roaming prices for UAE customers who travel to GCC countries has fallen by 18 percent since 1st April 2017.

Commenting on the move, Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director-General said, "The TRA was actively represented in the GCCs Working Group meetings to study the regulation of roaming prices. The implementation of price caps by all mobile operators in the GCC represents a great achievement for GCC countries regionally and internationally.""The TRA strives to achieve the satisfaction and happiness of all customers and the body is making all efforts to raise the quality of the services provided by the sector to better serve UAE customers and ensure that they have access to quality services at competitive prices. We are looking forward to the positive impact that the implementation of this directive will have on UAE customers travelling to the GCC," Al Mansoori added.
