Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), Qatar’s leading Islamic Bank, has launched its first Interactive Teller Machine (ITM), titled “Live Teller” at its newly relocated Al Gharafa Branch in Q-Mall.

Live Teller is a video-based interactive technology that allows customers to conduct transactions and banking services driven by a centrally based teller, in a highly engaging real time video/audio interaction.

Through talking to Live Teller, with extended hours of services, customers can withdraw or deposit cash by simply using their Qatari ID rather than a debit card; they can also cash and deposit cheques without the need to wait in a branch. Customers can execute internal transfers between accounts, make payments, and perform requests and inquiries such as updating contact details, check their account statement in addition to a variety of transaction that are usually offered by the branch tellers.

With innovative technology, the new “Live Teller” will serve as a testing ground for new concepts that will transform the customer lifestyle in Qatar and the way they bank with QIB. The initiative will start in a single location and will make its way into other locations all over Qatar expanding the Bank’s footprint and retail distribution network. “Live Teller” bridges the digital revolution with the physical branch environment.

“Banking Experiences are definitely changing and transforming how consumers conduct financial transactions. Consumers are now more loyal to great experiences and they demand convenience and quick service. Live Teller will provide this but without compromising the human touch. Customers still prefer the human guidance and support, especially in complex transactions,” said D. Anand, General Manager of QIB’s Personal Banking Group. He added: “We are proud to be leading a new era of digital banking in Qatar.”

“This initiative is part of QIB’s Board of Directors objective to invest in technology in order to maintain QIB’s leadership in the banking sector, and in line with Qatar’s vision to technologically advance the country’s financial services sector”. Anand concluded.

“We understand that the branch is evolving and financial institutions are focused on providing the best banking experience to their customer's to always remain a step ahead of the competition,” said Bahey Thabet, country manager, NCR financial services, Qatar. “APTRA Interactive Teller will help QIB offer access to teller services during non-traditional banking hours, build new small-footprint branches, and provide full teller services in different areas, all while taking advantage of the advanced features of NCR ATMs.”
