With just days left for Abu Dhabi's toll gates to become operational, the Department of Transport has announced that the Musaffah Bridge toll gate would be relocated.

According to local reports, the Musaffah Bridge toll gate will be moved to the entrance of 'Abu Dhabi Gate' area, to reduce traffic congestion, which might occur from motorists wanting to avoid the gate.

Some vehicles could try to avoid the gate by using the "Abu Dhabi Gate" area, then return to the main "Al Khaleej Alarabi Raod" by avoiding the toll gate, officials discussed at a recent meeting.

The department added that reports showed that the number of vehicles that enter and exit Abu Dhabi Island reaches 44,000 vehicles per hour, including 24,000 entering the city and 20,000 exiting.

The toll gate would reduce the traffic by 6 to 8 per cent during peak hours.
