Poland's central bank said on Thursday it has extended a swap line with the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) on the hryvnia/U.S. dollar currency pair for another year.

The National Bank of Poland (NBP) granted its Ukrainian counterpart a swap line of up to $1 billion shortly after Russia's invasion of Poland's neighbour in February 2022.

"Although the NBU did not use these funds, the support from the Polish central bank became a safety cushion for the Ukrainian financial sector," NBP said in a statement.

The terms of the swap line remain unchanged and there is an option to extend it again. (Reporting by Alan Charlish Editing by Mark Heinrich)
