The European Central Bank hopes that legislation for the digital euro will be in place by the second quarter of 2026, ECB board member Piero Cipollone told European lawmakers in Brussels on Thursday.
Once the legislation is approved, the ECB would still need around two-and-a-half to three years before a digital euro could be launched, Cipollone added.
