Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo are undertaking a feasibility study for constructing an electricity transmission line, Uganda’s The Observer newspaper reported.

The feasibility study is likely to be concluded by March 2023, the report said, citing sources.

The transmission line will allow Uganda to export excess power from the Nkenda substation in Kasese to eastern DR Congo.

The report added that the project is estimated to cost up to $200 million.
