Mubasher: The new Duqm fishing port in Oman is expected to open in 2020, Times of Oman reported on Wednesday.

This move is forecast to significantly increase fishing in the Special Economic Zone Authority of Duqm (SEZAD).

Construction in the OMR 60 million port started in 2016, an official from the port told Times of Oman, adding that the port is unlikely to open at the beginning of next year.

“As it stands, the borders of the port will be extended by one kilometre, after which piers will be constructed for traditional fishing vessels to be moored,” the official revealed.
