Spain’s Acciona has reduced 36 percent of its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to 2017 as part of its 2025 sustainability master plan.

The company cut the Scope 3 emissions by 8 percent and remains on the decarbonisation track set for 2030, the infrastructure and energy company said in a statement.

Acciona produced 23,910 GWh of renewable electricity, which prevented the release of 13.2 tonnes of CO2 emissions and nearly 35,000 tonnes of other greenhouse gas emissions.

The company generated 1,149 hm3 of treated, quality water (+11 percent) in 18 countries.

As part of its circular-economy strategy, 77 percent of Acciona’s waste was reused and 9 percent of the resources it consumed came from renewed or recycled sources.

Last year, the company implemented Minerva, a measurement and assessment tool that provides a digital and transparent report on the sustainability indicators of each of the company’s projects.

The tool provides detailed information to align the group’s business objectives related to the environmental, social and economic impact, the statement said.

According to Acciona, its business model and regenerative business solutions have led to the channeling of 9 billion euros ($9.81 billion) in sustainable financing in 2022, a 66 percent increase year-on-year.
