Dubai - Wanasah went live on 3 July with a 3 hour broadcast celebration of music, dancing and great performances by some of the most popular names in contemporary and pop Arabic music. The concert included a set performed by Rashed Al Majid along with Abdel Majid Abdulla; Majed Al Muhandes; Hussain Al Jasmi; Shirin; Ehab Tawfeeq; Yara and Nabil Shaeil.  Among invited guests were artists, divas, and other stars from all around the Arab world including George Kirdahi; Dawood Hussain; Hyatt Al Fahed; Hind; Mohammed Al Mansoor and Key programmers and news presenters from mbc and Al Arabiya.

Millions of viewers joined in the celebration from their homes, especially youth of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Gulf and the Arab world.

"Tonight we finally celebrate being on air after many months of preparation and planning," said Al Majid. "It's great to be able to celebrate the birth of Wanasah which we hope will really represent Arab youth in a way no other channel has done before. We're all very excited and hope that our viewers enjoy watching Wanasah as much as we've enjoyed working on it."

Wanasah's new presenters attending the event were positively glowing with excitement throughout the evening. "I'm so excited about Wanasah, I already feel like I'm part of a great family where I can be myself all the time. I've been living and breathing Wanasah over the past few weeks and I'm really looking forward to being on air," said Basant Shames AlDeen.

"I feel very privileged to be representing my peers through Wanasah," said another of the channel's presenters, Rayan Abdullah, "I hope that this opportunity allows me to achieve something great together with Wanasah's audience."

Owned by Rashed Al Majid, the Wanasah channel is being managed by the MBC Group and will feature a host of hot, new presenters and a mix of the latest in music and variety programs. Wanasah will broadcast Arabic music clips and videos around 70% of the time while the rest of the schedule will feature a number of its own original variety, music and youth programs focusing on audience interaction.

"We've come up with some amazing concepts that will have people hooked right from the start," says Al Majid. "Wanasah is a channel that will have enormous attitude, very targeted content and will take interactivity to a whole new level."
