ViewSonic warns of damaging effects of poor quality monitors and introduces new VG Series of LCD displays designed to improve comfort and productivity of workers
DUBAI, UAE, Nov. 20, 2006 - Computer monitors are the only office tool that is used all-day, everyday, by millions of workers around the world, but poor quality monitors could be damaging the health both of workers and of businesses, according to ViewSonic, one of the worldwide leaders in display technology.
Recent independent research1 found that 60% of office workers suffer the repeated effects of using poor or outdated monitors, impacting on attendance, productivity and motivation. At GITEX, ViewSonic is promoting the importance of good ergonomics and up-to-date display technology, with its 'Demand a ViewSonic' campaign, and with the launch of the new VG Series of LCD displays that have been designed to boost worker's productivity, without cutting into IT budgets.
"Recent studies have shown a clear link between outdated computer equipment, low job satisfaction, poor productivity, workplace ailments and increased sick-leave," said Aaron Fright, Regional Manager, ViewSonic Middle East & Africa. "Given that the average office worker spends much more time looking at a computer screen, and in much closer proximity than they do sitting at home watching TV, the problems that can be caused by poor monitors are very serious indeed. ViewSonic is keen to raise awareness of the problems that bad office environments can cause, and show companies how the right display technology can help guard against these issues."
As part of the 'Demand a ViewSonic' campaign, ViewSonic has launched a special website, www.monitorvictims.com, that includes an online survey that workers can take to see if they are suffering the ill effects of a poor monitor, plus free downloadable monitor test patterns and a guide to healthy computing and ergonomics in the workplace. The Demand a ViewSonic campaign is intended to make workers aware of the issues, so that they can demand display technology that has been designed to give them the best possible performance.
At GITEX, ViewSonic is showing the new VG Series of desktop LCD monitors, which have been designed to fit the unique needs of any user, to provide maximum ergonomic comfort. The VG Series, with screen sizes ranging from 17- to 22-inches, includes standard and widescreen models, with a best-in-class 3.2 inches of height adjustment and a full 360-degrees of swivel.
The VG Series includes ViewSonic's advanced LCD technology which also helps to create a better user experience, with software for optimized display quality, high contrast ratios and resolutions, and superior refresh rates to ensure glare- and flicker-free displays.
"No two people are the same, so ViewSonic understands the importance of providing displays which are fully adjustable to fit each user, and that also have integrated features and technology to provide the best possible image quality. We are dedicated to designing our products to give business professionals the performance and comfort they need," Fright added.
The VG Series is available through authorized ViewSonic retailers and resellers now.
