Details as follows:
- High Density Polyethylene pipe length of 2.5 km x 590 mm dia. x 15 mm wall thickness pulled through a 2.5 km long 24" diameter subsea steel pipeline from shore to an offshore subsea installation in 20 m water depth.
- The "Significance" and the "Firsts" in the industry of this pull are as follows:
- Being longest single section pulled to date
- Being the largest outside diameter pulled to date
- Being done offshore
This successful operation provided a huge saving to the operator (Oil Company) by avoiding the utilization of expensive exotic material (Inconel) overlay / lining of the CS pipeline used for produced water disposal.
The job was successfully done during the summer of 2013
