Providing a cloud-based service to make any 3D file 3D printable
Amman - Mixed Dimensions – a US-Jordanian startup specialized in 3D printing, gaming and augmented and virtual reality – has officially launched its leading online 3D printing file repair service, MakePrintable, aiming to make 3D printing easier, faster, more accessible and less error prone. Since the release of the beta version in October 2015, the MakePrintable application has become the world’s fastest and most reliable cloud-based, 3D file fixing service.
MakePrintable’s intuitive UI, UX, and 3D printing file fixing tools save users time and money by speeding up 3D printing workflows for makers and companies. During its 16-month beta stage, MakePrintable’s load speeds improved by over 400%, while its failure rate has dropped significantly from 40% to 8%. In addition, the service now enjoys the industry’s leading fixing rate, repairing over 96% of all uploaded files, and has consistently grown by an average of 50% each month.
“We are pleased to report that over 91% of MakePrintable users have expressed their satisfaction with our service,” stated Mixed Dimensions Co-Founder and CEO, Muhannad Taslaq. “We are grateful to our community for sending over 5,732 pieces of user feedback and suggestions, which we have incorporated into improving MakePrintable. We look forward to continuing to do so in the future and to helping our users remain at the forefront of 3D printing technology.”
MakePrintable’s newest features include the ability for users to decide on the wall thickness of their 3D-printed item, allowing users to make faster and cheaper prints while also optimizing them for different 3D printing technologies, such as laser sintering, stereolithography and fused deposition modeling. There is also a new ‘Reduce Polygon Count’ feature, which quickly automates the process of reducing model size. This feature can be particularly useful to enterprise users and companies using 3D scanning data as an input for 3D prints.
Furthermore, the new ‘Texture Support’ feature allows users to upload textures for full-color 3D printing and to texture 3D prints. MakePrintable also now supports over 21 file formats, including 3mf, .dae, .3ds, .dxf and others. Users can output repaired files to STL, OBJ, 3MF, SVG and G-code formats as well as easily export files to i.materialise, 3D Hubs, Shapeways, Box and Drive.
By delivering comparable results at higher speeds, MakePrintable provides companies and pro-3D printer users with the ability to obtain fixed files at a significantly lower cost per fix. MakePrintable offers a free fixing solution for three fixes per month, in comparison to other subscriptions that can cost up to USD 500 or more on a monthly basis. MakePrintable also offers a ‘Pro’ subscription of USD 7 for ten fixes per month and a ‘Plus’ subscription of USD 25 for 50 fixes per month. Further customized pricing plans are available for enterprise customers.
“Enterprises and makers will find that MakePrintable’s feature set and performance exceeds their expectations and is capable of more than meeting their needs,” said Baha Abunojaim, Co-Founder and CTO of Mixed Dimensions. “MakePrintable’s launch is a significant step toward lowering costs for enterprise file repair, and we will add more features as we continue to improve this incredible service.”
He added, “At Mixed Dimensions, we are working towards a world where any 3D file, from point clouds to in-game assets, can be 3D printed. We want to be a bridge between the virtual and real and we are proud to be solidly trailblazing this path.”
