2013 CRMA Application Deadline Extended Till the End of March Due to High Demand

Dubai, UAE, February 26, 2013: The UAE Internal Audit Association (UAE-IAA), the local body affiliated to the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA-Global), today announced that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has topped all Middle Eastern countries in terms of the number of internal auditors who obtained CRMA (Certification in Risk Management Assurance), a prestigious international certificate which allows audit practitioners to provide advice and assurance to audit committees and executive management. UAE Internal Audit Association also announced that the deadline for receiving applications for the CRMA was extended until the end of March due to the high demand.

According to The UAE Internal Audit Association, UAE has also ranked fourth worldwide, preceded only by the United States, Canada and the People's Republic of China, in the number of internal auditors who hold CRMA certifications.

Commenting on this milestone, Mr. Abdulqader Obaid Ali, President of the UAE Internal Audit Association (UAE-IAA) said: "The UAE is considered one of the world's fastest growing countries in the field of internal audit. The ranking of UAE as one of the top countries in the CRMA is a benchmark, which will motivate us to work harder towards consolidating our position and taking this profession to higher levels."

CRMA is considered one of the most promising professional certificates, which is designed for internal auditors and practitioners who are interested in Risk Management Assurance. Holders of this valuable certification will be able to provide assurance on core business processes in risk management and governance, educate the management on risk management concepts, as well as focus on strategic organizational risks. Until the 31st of March 2013, the certificate will be obtained based on Professional Experience Recognition (PER), which takes into consideration three different factors: education, current certifications held and professional experience.

About the UAE-IAA:
The UAE Internal Audit Association (IAA) was set up in July 1995, as a non-profit organization along the lines of its parent body with the support and co-operation of the Emirates Group, the Economic Department, Dubai Chamber of Commerce, Al Futtaim, Emirates Bank and DUBAL. On the 24th of June 2006 the IIA in Dubai sought and gained approval to become IIA UAE.
