HVAC systems play a key role in creating a high-quality, energy-efficient healing environment
Dubai, United Arab Emirates May 31, 2012
The healthcare services market in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is projected to grow at an annual rate of 11.4 percent, increasing to USD$43.9 billion by 2015. A leader from Trane, a leading global provider of indoor comfort systems and services and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, will address how heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems can be designed and optimized to meet the needs of this growing healthcare market at the upcoming Hospital Build Middle East conference and exhibition.
Michel van Roozendaal, vice president of services and contracting for Trane in Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa, will discuss critical HVAC system design features that enable hospitals to ensure reliability, improve efficiency and maintain indoor air quality for maximum hygiene, comfort and productivity. Roozendaal will discuss how HVAC system design impacts facility performance and patient outcomes.
"Hospitals use about two and a half times the amount of energy as a similar-sized commercial building, because they are open 24 hours a day and require extra air filtration and circulation, air cooling and waste management," said Roozendaal. "Proper indoor air quality is more than just the promotion of comfort; it's a vital factor in patient recovery. Cross-contamination and bacterial concentration are key concerns in healthcare environments, so designing reliable, safe and energy efficient HVAC solutions is critical."
