08 December 2009
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, 7 Dec 2009 (ME Newswire): TippingPoint, a leader in network security solutions and a division of 3Com, announced it has achieved significant market growth in the Middle East in 2009, including several significant customer wins in the financial and service provider sector. This growth has been fueled by a direct need for network security solutions in the region and TippingPoint's expanded sales and partner presence.

In the last year, TippingPoint has added a number of very large service provider and banking customers. Critical wins have included Banque Saudi Fransi, Showtime Arabia, Telecom Egypt and Qatar Islamic Bank. As a result of this broad range of enterprise customers, Arab Computer Network (ACN) recently recognized TippingPoint as the "Enterprise Security Vendor of the Year" for its 2009 Arab Technology Awards. These awards recognize those IT professionals and organizations that are making technology work - delivering on the promise of bringing real value to the business using IT.

"The Middle East is such an important growth region for us. Our team has worked very hard over the last year to build awareness for TippingPoint and increase our market share," said Alan Kessler, president of TippingPoint. "That hard work is paying off and we couldn't be more excited about the traction and growth we've seen in this region."

Partnering for growth and success
TippingPoint has continued to invest time and resources into its relationship with FVC, its primary distributor for the region, and through them improved its awareness with more than 20 value-added resellers. TippingPoint recently recognized these resellers at a partner awareness event at the GITEX Technology Week conference in Dubai. These included:

  • Emircom, a leading system integrator in the UAE and considered to be the 18th most powerful company in the Middle East by ACN. The Emircom and TippingPoint teams worked very closely to win many projects including a very prestigious project for the Abu Dhabi government and were chosen as the TippingPoint partner of the year in GCC for 2009.

  • Unicorp Technology LLC, UAE, within a short span of eight months, won projects at the largest University and the largest Telco in UAE and were chosen for a special award: the "TippingPoint Fast Track Partner."

  • Saudi Paramount Computer Systems is one of TippingPoint's longest standing partners. This year they were instrumental in helping win one of TippingPoint biggest projects with the Saudi Arabia Government in Riyadh and the largest Mobile operator wins in Saudi and were selected as TippingPoint partner of the year in KSA for 2009.

  • IB Maroc is one of TippingPoint's first partners in Morocco and within a short period of time introduced TippingPoint Security solutions to a huge number of customers and was responsible for a big win with one of the primary service providers in the Morocco. As a result, they received the special recognition for business performance award.

  • Summit Holding, an information and communications technology and business solutions provider serving clients throughout the Middle East, North Africa and Asia, is the fastest growing systems integrator for TippingPoint in Egypt. Together, TippingPoint and Summit Holding replaced a competitive solution with the largest mobile operator in Egypt and won a major project with a reputable market leader in the financial sector. They were selected to receive the special recognition for business performance award.

  • Tetracom, a Lebanese ICT Systems Integrator and Supplier, was instrumental in getting TippingPoint deployed with one of the major mobile operators in Lebanon. As such, they were selected to receive the special recognition for business performance award.

"As one of the largest distributors in the Middle East, our reputation rests on delivering quality products," said Dharmendra Parmar, general manager, marketing for FVC. "As a pioneer and industry leader in the intrusion prevention space, TippingPoint was a natural partner for us. We look forward to continuing the relationship for years to come."

The expanded partner base and sales presence will be critical in bringing TippingPoint's recently announced N-Platform to market. The TippingPoint® N-Platform is an IPS Platform with a newly-designed Threat Suppression Engine (TSE) that adds significant capacity for deep packet traffic inspection and enables the addition of multiple filter packs and security services to deliver the industry's most comprehensive protection without impacting the already market-leading performance. The combination of increased security services, fast filter development and deployment of the Digital Vaccine® (DV) service without impacting performance leads to more comprehensive 'zero day' protection and lower total cost of ownership.

The momentum in the Middle East provides an excellent backdrop for TippingPoint's recently launched N-Platform, which features a new modular architecture that boosts capacity for traffic inspection for data center environments. The new platform also provides the security requirements for 3Com's Secure Network Fabric, which integrates technology from TippingPoint with LAN infrastructure equipment from H3C, the enterprise networking brand of 3Com.

"We've seen tremendous success over the past year growing our partner base and securing business," said Neeti Rodrigues, regional sales director for TippingPoint's Middle East, GCC and India regions. "The launch of the N-Platform will help us continue this momentum. We are looking forward to another stellar year in 2010."
