DUBAI – Home to one of Dubai’s very few fully HACCP-certified gluten-free kitchen’s, The Lime Tree Café has expanded its range of baked goods to cater to the growing demand for gluten-free products in the city over the festive season. New additions to the collection include items such as traditional mince pies, dark chocolate & spiced orange Florentines, and more.
Handmade in small batches by a dedicated team of bakers, Lime Tree’s gluten-free range includes a wide-variety of cakes sold by the slice or whole, breads, cookies, crackers, muffins, desserts and ice creams, made using the highest quality, traceable to its source and organic ingredients – all served in fully biodegradable and compostable packaging.
Long-time favourites of the homegrown café can also found in the gluten-free range including its jewelled carrot & pistachio cake, triple-layer tiramisu cake, the chocolate goddess cake, wild berry, and dark chocolate with tahini frosting – perfect for enjoying with a cup of coffee, or to take home for a special occasion such as a birthday.
The Lime Tree Café’s co-founder Corinne Bowker, who suffers from coeliac disease, is a driving force behind Lime Tree’s gluten-free bakery. To further build on 10 years of recipe development since the gluten-free bakery first launched, Corinne and the bakery team carry out regular research and recipe trialing with up to as many as seven different flour varieties, to ensure only the best tasting products make it on shelves.
“As someone unable to consume gluten, I know how difficult it can be to source gluten-free products that not only cater to allergies, but also deliver on flavour and texture. We want Lime Tree to be a place where people who don’t eat gluten can still enjoy breads, cakes and treats without comprising on taste. We always have a minimum of six gluten-free cakes available at any given time in our cafés and guarantee no gluten-free pre-mix is ever used,” said Corinne.
She added: “Still to this day, I struggle dining out as most menus do not cater to those with gluten intolerances, or alternatively only offer a dish or two, which can be quite restrictive. Our vision at Lime Tree is to continue to strengthen our brand’s commitment to creating extraordinary-tasting gluten-free products by further developing the range so that our customers can enjoy the same, great tasting goods whether gluten-free or not.”
The Lime Tree Café has dine-in locations in Jumeirah 1, Town Square, Al Quoz, Motor City, Depachika Food Hall at Nakheel Mall on The Palm, Sheikh Zayed Road and The Springs Souk, and is also available for delivery and catering.
