The American  Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) chapter of BITS Pilani Dubai Campus in association with the Pinnacle Knowledge Group held its first ever and the biggest Student Professional Development Conference (SPDC) from March 10 to March 12 at the BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus.  SPDC, an initiative of ASME aims to enhance and develop the technical and leadership skills amongst the engineers worldwide. A staggering 250 students from across the gulf countries participated in this international conference that made it a grand success. The UAE made up the largest contingent with representations from Khalifa University, BIT RAK, Mahe Manipal University, Herriot Watt and BITS Pilani to name a few.

Technical competitions and seminars were conducted throughout the conference wherein the enthusiastic engineers showcased their technical skills. Innovative competitions like DesignPro, Autogeeks, and Student Design etc. were held, that equally tested the knowledge, creativity and intelligence of the budding engineers. Competitions like gaming and photography ensured that the atmosphere bustled with excitement.

The event concluded with an award ceremony for the winners and the faculty members. Prof R K Mittal, Director, BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus and Mr.M.Riazuddin, Director, ETA-Net work of Education & Training congratulated the winners at the SPDC semifinal competitions who will entering the finals to be held in Lebanon in April.  The district-J leader Mr. Hadi Tahboub and  Mr.Jad Mohanna, Chairman, ASME SDOB-J(Student Development Operating Board) also joined the ceremony, thanked the Management for hosting the conference and congratulated the ASME Student section for organizing the conference successfully.
