A part of the American University of Kuwait (AUK) Library development project, which includes the Supply and implementation of the library automation system "Horizon" and academic electronic information resources; Arabian Advanced Systems (AAS), the authorized representative of 3M Library Detection and Materials Flow Management Systems, has completed the implementation of the "RFID One Tag" solution. The RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology will allow AUK library to automate inventory & items management operations, and will provide an advanced security and detection system for the library holdings.

"AUK is proud to be the first academic library in the Arab World and the Middle East to use the RFID technology for materials flow management, this proves the AUK commitment to adopt the latest technologies for it's students" said Mae Al-Hajjaj, the AUK University Librarian. She added "We selected Arabian Advanced Systems to be our partner to develop the library services; due to its long experience and our trust on AAS staff's ability and eligibility to deliver the services that we are looking for".

Wajdi Tahmosh, AAS Kuwait Regional Manager, said "We are pleased to add the 3M RFID technology to the solutions and services that we provide to libraries, it's our pleasure that AUK library be the first to acquire this technology. This is certainly proves AAS leadership; as it's the only company in the Arab world that is able to provide complete integrated solutions to libraries". He added "It's our ongoing commitment towards the Arab libraries to raise and enhance its services".

AUK Library is a hi-tech library equipped with the latest advanced technologies that includes e-books, e-journals, and electronic full-text and bibliographic information databases. Students can reach these resources via the university website at www.auk.edu.kw , and sooner the library will implement the wireless network that allows students to use their note books within the library and university premises. In addition to that, the library conference   room was provided with the latest technologies to provide training sessions to student on how to use the information resources and the digital library "Horizon Information Portal (HIP)".
