Tourists fascinated by the Qatari hospitality.

Doha, Qatar: Qatar Tourism & Exhibitions Authority welcomed 660 tourists and 560 crew members at their stopover in Qatar on Saturday and Sunday.

Two weeks after the arrival of the first cruise ship, passengers from MS Silver Wind and MV Astor have been warmly greeted by QTEA on their arrival at Doha port.

175 tourists from Europe and America on Saturday and 485 from Germany on Sunday enjoyed  the Qatari hospitality from their first step ashore in Doha, welcomed by a traditional band and  dances. QTEA staff offered brochures and maps to acquaint passengers with Qatar and outline the various activities they could enjoy during their stay in the country. One German lady declared: "I'm so happy that our cruise could stop in Doha. This Qatari atmosphere is unique and I'm sure we'll spend an unforgettable day in this country."

The visa procedures ran easily and all the visitors, after enjoying dates and Arabic coffee, were ready to enjoy the different activities offered by Gulf Adventures, the appointed tour agent for this cruise. Some tourists went for a half day desert safari on four-wheel-drive vehicles to Khor Al Adaid, the breathtaking beautiful inland sea. Some others enjoyed a tour in the city, walking in the labyrinth of alleyways of Souq Wakif, discovering the stunning galleries of the Museum of Islamic Art, strolling on the Corniche in front of the amazing skyline of Doha.

On the occasion of these two new cruises coming to Qatar, Mr Ahmed Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Qatar Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, commented: "Qatar is becoming a fixed destination in many cruise ship itineraries. The feedback we have received from the tourists has been first class. We look forward to welcoming many more visitors from the various cruise ships."
