Enjoy an evening of entertaining dance performances rendered on remix versions of popular Sindhi songs of yesteryears
14th April Dubai, A unique entertainment programme of Sindhi dance and music, “Surhaan Sindhiyat Jee” will be presented at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium on the 16th April 2004.
The Sindhi entertainment programme promises to be the first of its kind in Dubai where some of the famous Sindhi songs of yesteryears will be presented with modern fusion and re-mix, accompanied by professionally choreographed dances. The event is open to the Sindhi community and an audience of over 1500 people is expected.
Famous singers Tufail Sajrani and Shahnila Ali from Sindh, Pakistan who have scores of Sindhi music videos to their credit and perform regularly on KTN Telvision network will be performing along with India’s young and famous master of music Madhukar Wadhwani. Wadhwani is known for enchanting the audience with his deep, rich, melodious ‘Kalaams’ and ‘bhajans’, both in Sindhi and Hindi. Additionally, amongst the performers will be Renu Gidoomal, who with her active participation will entertain the audience throughout the evening.
“Our objective is to bring the joy of Sindhi culture to the youngsters of today. While these melodies will surely regale the older generation, the younger generation will enjoy the foot-tapping remix versions and might find it hard to remain seated!” exclaimed Asha Chand, the Dubai based organiser of the entertainment evening.
Chand, a founding member of Sindhi Sangat, a non-profitable organization based in Mumbai said, “Unfortunately, due to minimum exposure, there is a marked decline in interest of the younger generation in Sindhi language and culture. We at Sindhi Sangat endeavour to promote the rich Sindhi language, literature and culture.”
Sponsoring the event of the evening is Century Mall, while the co-sponsors include Al Maya Lals, Jacky's Electronics, Kingsway Traders, Arkays, International Traders, Al Faraa Group of Companies, 101.6 City FM, Gulf Technical & Commercial Press and Richmond Hotel Apartments.
