Currie & Brown announces that Simon Andrews has joined the company as chief operating officer of its Middle East business. Simon replaces Ernie Pienaar who is retiring but will continue to work for Currie & Brown in a consulting capacity.

Commenting on the appointment, Euan McEwan, Currie & Brown's group chief executive officer, said: 'I am delighted to welcome Simon to Currie & Brown. Simon has been a chartered engineer in the building and infrastructure industry for over 30 years, most of which have been spent in the Middle East. Simon has the ideal credentials to build on the growth that we have been experiencing in the Middle East in the last year or so.'

Simon, who has worked with Currie & Brown on several projects, said: 'Following Currie & Brown's recent acquisition of Sweett Group's Asia Pacific and India businesses, I am very pleased to be joining Currie & Brown at this particularly exciting time. Currie & Brown has a well-established presence in the Middle East and has a clear focus on the market it serves. My aim is to continue to grow the Middle East business by building on the existing reputation for first-class service delivery and by developing our project management and project controls services.'
