Tunis, Tunisia, January 27, 2010. Sied Packaging a subsidiary of Altea Packaging Group, has been certified according to ISO 22000 standard version 2005 by AFAQ-body ASCERT International. It is the second unit of the group to receive this certification. In December 2008, Cogitel was the first and unique flexible packaging actor in North Africa to get such a certification.

As pointed out by Monia Ben Amor, Maghreb Quality Manager at Altea Packaging: "ISO 22000 certification allows us to anticipate customer demands and respond to existing regulations". ISO 22000, backed by international consensus, harmonizes the requirements for systematically managing safety in food supply chains and offers a unique solution for good practice on a worldwide basis

This approach has allowed Sied Emballage employees to be involved in a motivating project, engaging them in a continuous process improvement. This certification has also contributed to consolidate and validate all the techniques of good manufacturing practices and hazard analysis on the company site.

As for Khalil Sellami, General Manager of Sied Emballage, "adhering to ISO 22000 standard's values was an evidence to ensure safety of food products packagings. Our biggest concern is to secure consumer safety and preserve the brand image of our customers, predominantly agro-food industrial".
 
According to M. Hedi Zeghal, Chairman of Altea Packaging, such certification is not only an asset to improve the Group's penetration in markets with higher requirements as the European market, but also a way to offer all the actors engaged in an ISO 22000 certification process, a partnership to provide them an adapted packaging solution.
