Contest termed as first car air brush design competition in the region

Sharjah - Car tuning enthusiasts will be in for a big treat as the region's leading tuning fair, Middle East Motor Tuning Show, is set to offer an action-packed schedule for its second edition to be held from May 12 to 14, 2011, at Expo Centre Sharjah.

An exciting pre-event activity aimed at inspiring creative minds will be a first-of-its-kind car airbrush design contest, which will be held in association with Tuning UAE and Dubizzle.

The competition titled 'Airbrush Contest' will be the Gulf's first open challenge giving people a chance to create their own car body airbrush design or win a free airbrush design for their car.

"The inaugural Middle East Motor Tuning Show held last year made a big impact in the whole of the region. We wish to build on the momentum generated through the launch edition and have strived hard to add more value and several new features to the second edition of the show. We've tied up with key personalities and leading establishments in the field to present a bigger and better MEMTS 2011," said Mr Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, Director General of Expo Centre Sharjah.

The winning airbrushed car and design will be unveiled on the first day of the Middle East Motor Tuning Show (MEMTS).

The winning design, to be chosen by online voting, will be carried out and displayed at the opening of the show on the car. The airbrush design will be done by Tuning UAE, the one-stop shop for car tuning in the country.

Apart from Tuning UAE, the contest is supported by Dubizzle, which will be the media sponsor for the event.

Any custom paint job on a vehicle will typically make use of a variety of airbrush car paint techniques. It will showcase the participants' choice of colour, sense of design and preference of tools and materials.

Contestants can choose to enter the 'Car for airbrush' or 'Airbrush design' categories, or both.

In the 'Car for airbrush' category, contestants need to describe why people should choose their vehicle for a free airbrush design. The more the people one can inspire with one's text, the more the votes one get. One can also ask friends and well-wishers to vote for his or her car, thus increasing the chances of winning the contest.

In the 'Airbrush design' category, contestants will have to present their airbrush designs, and the entries will be featured on the MEMTS website seeking votes from netizens.

Entries for the Airbrush Contest can be submitted until April 24 and the 10 finalists will be announced on April 27.

"We are happy to partner with MEMTS for its second edition. Being the perfect choice in car tuning, motor parts and accessories for tuning buffs, we are keen to showcase our skills by carrying out the winning design on a car," said Orhan Guseynov, president of Tuning UAE.

"We think its an excellent way of getting those people who doodle on paper or are doing it professionally everyday to have this chance to show how creative they are to the public.  What better way than having your design shown at the exhibition", said Faiyaz Chand, UAE Marketing Manager of Dubizzle.com, a leading community website in the country.

Apart from the airbrush contest, MEMTS 2011 will feature the latest trends in car modification from leading companies from across the world. This year, the show will have several dedicated areas for different types of cars and car customisation.

Prominent among them will be the Millionaires' Hall, which will focus on luxury cars and top-class customisation services. The Motorsport Hall and UAE Performance Zone will be dedicated to performance tuning and motorsport vehicles.

The Styling and Accessories Area will feature firms that can add to the look and style of cars, while Car Audio section will offer the ultimate selection in car entertainment products.

Apart from these, the entertainment section will host a drifting area provided by a Top Speed Performance, and Dyno Max Power challenge and Car Audio Competition, among others.

"We are promising a blast of a show this year, what with several new amazing features, new partners and new participants on board. MEMTS will offer tuning enthusiasts three days of pure, unlimited excitement," said Roman Gavrilin, Project manager for MEMTS show

The launch edition of the Middle East Motor Tuning Show was held in October 2010 and during its five-day run it attracted more than 75,000 visitors.
