The Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority launched yesterday (April 01,2019) the new Aman system to enhance the emirate’s fire prevention capabilities and implement the best industry practices to build a safe and risk-free society. The initiative is in response to the directive of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to protect individuals and properties throughout the emirate.
To be managed by Saned, Aman is an advanced fire detection system that can be installed in commercial and residential buildings. Furthermore, enhanced and globally recognized firefighting procedures have been put in place in support of the newly launched initiative. The innovative fire detection system allows 24-hour monitoring of fire alarms, boosting the capability of Sharjah’s General Directorate of Civil Defense to immediately respond to fire incidents. The system, which can easily be integrated into a fire alarm panel of any building, connects effectively to two central monitoring stations through mobile data and public switched telephone network (PSTN).
The Authority already installed the system into its facility in Muwaileh, a commercial complex, and the building of Souq Al Jubail in Al Jubail during the first phase of implementation. A number of tests were carried out to ensure the system's efficiency and detect malfunctions and possible errors.
His Excellency Eng. Sheikh Khalid Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman, Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority, said, “The Aman system demonstrates the Authority’s commitment towards maintaining public safety in Sharjah. The new initiative is being launched in response to the directive of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi to strengthen government coordination to ensure public safety and security in all buildings and developments.”
H.E added: “The Aman system is aligned with the Authority’s commitment to build a safe and risk-free society by connecting the fire alarm system into the central control and operating rooms. It ensures a quick response to fire incidents. Aman will send a warning in case of faults in the maintenance of the alarm panel and fire pump or manipulation in the fire system. It can also be connected to an elevator system, specialized firefighting systems, a fire pump water tank, a fire sprinkler system, and a gas leak detection system, among others.”
Eng. Qais Mahmud, Aman Project Manager, Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority, said: “We will continue our efforts to meet the highest standards of safety and security as well as implement state-of-the-art technological innovations to protect individuals and properties from fire through the help and discipline of all segments of society. The Aman system plays an important role in the protection of people through early detection of fires, which can destroy an entire facility, and in the monitoring of the readiness of fire alarm and detection systems.”
Eng. Sultan Al Ketbi, CEO, Saned, said: “The Aman system will identify and lower risks as well as provide efficient solutions to protect people and properties. Rest assured that we will remain dedicated to continuously improve our safety and protection measures. We are honored to be working with Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority to oversee the success of this initiative.”
Prior to the installation of Aman, building owners will be required to submit an annual maintenance contract in relation to their fire alarm system and a compliance certificate. The fire alarm contractor assigned to each building is also required at the site when the Aman technical team conducts the installation. Building owners can request for the installation via www.eservices.spsa.ae. They will be required to provide their name, address, and location.
