Abu Dhabi, UAE – Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council “QCC”, the entity responsible for developing the quality infrastructure in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, has launched the third retail scale verification bureau in Mussafah industrial city as part of its continuing efforts to meet the dynamic needs of customers in the retail sector for verification services in a timely and efficient manner.

The bureau offers verification services for retail scales used in the retailing of products like meat, fish, vegetable, fruit, and confectionery, among others, with a capacity of up to 150 kg.

Sultan Saeed Al Mehairi, Director of Information Service and Engagement at QCC, said: “The opening of the third retail scale verification bureau supports QCC’s strategy to enhance the overall quality of products and services in the emirate, ensuring implementation of local and international standards and specifications. That is to ensure the rights of both consumers and traders and achieving the highest level of customer happiness.”

He added, “Like the rest of our bureaus, the Musaffah centre is fitted out with the latest testing equipment to meet the technical requirements of modern retail scales, and its services are offered under the supervision of a highly skilled UAE national workforce. We call on all business owners to have their scales verified to ensure their compliance with relevant technical requirements and to get the gold “checkmark” that takes a maximum of 15 minutes.”

Al Mehairi added; Traders and business owners can bring their scales to our new office located in “TAS-HEEL” next to the Emirates Identity Authority in Musaffah.

The QCC previously opened two bureaus for retail scale verification, the first in 2014 in Abu Dhabi and the second in 2016 in Al Ain. The Mussafah branch, the third in Abu Dhabi Emirate, will facilitate the verification process for traders in the area and enhancing the services offered by QCC across the emirate.

QCC is the first government Entity in Abu Dhabi to receive international accreditation in accordance with the standard ISO / IEC 17020: 2012, which reflects the council’s commitment to the leadership's wise perception to achieve Abu Dhabi's plan and vision.

The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council was established in 2009 to raise the quality of the emirate’s exports and locally traded products, while protecting the interests of consumers and supporting the UAE’s competitive economy. QCC empowers regulators to establish and implement product safety, legal metrology and conformity schemes. The Council also sets guidelines and benchmarks to verify that products manufactured and traded in Abu Dhabi conform to the highest quality standards.
