Doha, Qatar – Qatar Museums, under the patronage of its Chairperson, Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa Bint Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, announced today that the 3-2-1 Qatar & Olympic Sports Museum will be featured in the 17th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia through a special participation, titled “Sport Platform,” in the Central Pavilion of the Giardini della Biennale. Conceived by Principal Architect Christoph Lechner of Architect Christoph Lechner & Partners and coordinated by Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, the installation explores the question: How will we play sport together? It focuses on two mega sporting events—the Tokyo Olympics and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022—The exhibition features models of the eight football stadiums, on loan by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy.
H.E. Sheikha Al Mayassa is also Chair of the Honorary Committee for The Majlis exhibition, which has made its international debut on 21 May 2021 in the wildflower gardens of the Abbazia di San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice. The project, curated by Dr. Thierry Morel and organized by Caravane Earth foundation is one of the official Collateral Events of the Biennale Architettura 2021 titled How will we live together? The unique bamboo Majlis, designed by internationally acclaimed bamboo architects Simón Vélez and Stefana Simic, is designed to be a community meeting place and a centre for vernacular architecture and traditional construction skill. Caravane Earth is an international foundation that aims to promote social, cultural and ecological transformation. Following its presentation in Venice, The Majlis exhibition will travel to Doha.
Qatar Museums is also the major donor for the 17th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia. The exhibition How will we live together? is curated by Hashim Sarkis and organized by La Biennale di Venezia.

We are also honoured to support the “Sports Platform” through our upcoming Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, and we would also like to thank the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy for providing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 football stadium models that are on display at the Central Pavilion of the Giardini della Biennale.”
The panel is scheduled for 27th August 2021 and will be held in La Biennale di Venezia headquarters at Palazzo Ca’ Giustinian, near S. Mark’s Square. It will be streamed on La Biennale website in ENG/ITA. The panel which sees the Qatar Museums participation is schedule from 4:50pm to 5:50 pm (Doha time) and is supposed to see the participation of Qatar Olympic Sports Museum representatives and Supreme Committee. The auditorium will be open to the public however given the current COVID restrictions the access is limited, and the audience is invited to book in advance to gain access.

3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum
The 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, opening in the fall of 2021, is Qatar’s experiential museum of sports history, offering an unforgettable and inspiring interactive journey through the history and legacy of sports and the Olympic Games. The museum delivers a multi-layered educational narrative that combines/connects a comprehensive collection with state-of-the-art technology and documents the significance of sports in Qatar. One of the largest Olympic Museums in the world, 3-2-1 comprises 19,000 square metres of gallery space housing hundreds of objects from around the globe, from the origins of sports to the modern day. Through its participatory spaces and planned programming, the museum aims to inspire and engage its community and encourages the public to take part in sports and physical activity. The Museum is located at Khalifa International Stadium, part of Qatar’s Aspire Zone Foundation. The Stadium, originally built in 1976, will host the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ in 2022.
