A series of interactive and stimulating career orientation workshops have been designed for students to enjoy the process of designing a bright future for themselves
Doha, June 9, 2013
Qatar Career Fair (QCF) today announced that it is organizing a career boot camp this summer from 30 June to 4 July, within Education City premises, in Awsaj Academy. The summer camp is part of QCF's on-going efforts to strengthen the career culture amongst Qatari youth and empower them to take charge of their future. The camp is being held in partnership with the Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and in cooperation with the Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology (ictQATAR).
Unlike other summer camps, the QCF Career Boot Camp is designed around a series of interactive and educational career orientation workshops with the aim of encouraging young Qataris to be more involved in their career planning process and enjoy it. In addition, participants will get to benefit from site visits and job shadowing programs at leading organizations in Qatar, which is aimed at giving students first-hand insights of what to expect in the real world once they have completed schooling.
Abdulla Al Mansoori, Director, QCF said that this is the first career-oriented summer camp of its kind in Qatar. He encouraged parents to register their children for the camp, which will accommodate up to 50 high school students with specific programmes being catered in different classes for males and females respectively.
"This is going to be a very unique summer opportunity for students because it will give them a constructive yet enjoyable environment in which to spend the summer period. We have taken great measures to ensure that students find the activities both educational and fun at the same time. Parents will be pleased to know that their children are spending their holidays wisely, and learning important tools to help them with their career planning skills", said Al Mansoori.
The camp is open to Qatari students in grade 10 or 11 (or year 11 and 12 for British schools). In order to ensure that each participant gets the most out the camp, students must be conversant in Arabic and English and have an academic score of 70% or above. Schools may nominate their top students who will be given the priority to enrol.
Registration, which closes on June 20, must be done via the official website www.qatarcareerfair.com.qa and be supported with copies of a score certificate, a nomination letter from a teacher or career advisor, as well as a consent letter from a parent or guardian.
As the organizers of the biggest career fair in Qatar, QCF supports the human development pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030 by helping to create a dynamic future workforce of Qatari nationals. Each year, through collaborations with leading institutions and companies in Qatar, QCF introduces new initiatives and outreach programmes that support young nationals in their career development process. This year, in addition to the career boot camp, QCF also introduced as a series of lectures aimed at educating young Qataris of their employment prospects in major sectors of the nation's economy.
