Int@j and USAID provide opportunities for new jobs

In the competitive and highly demanded PHP programming

Amman 19 Dec 2011 - Under the patronage of the Minister of ICT - Eng Basem Al Rousan, a graduation ceremony was held at Hayat Amman Hotel for a batch of PHP programmers from the academic and private sectors. Two PHP courses were offered at the ARCANA for Training and Development, member of Luminus Education in Amman, one for academics and the other for the private sector trainers.   The courses were organized as part of an initiative launched in partnership between Int@j and USAID Jordan Economic Development Program which sought to take measures of mass rehabilitation of the work force in this new and highly demanded programming language - locally and regionally, thus enabling the access of good and available work opportunities.

The PHP initiative is distinguished by the fact that nine public and private universities have named IT lecturers to participate in the course and subsequently agreed to provide students with PHP courses as part of their regular IT study plans.  Also, private sector companies involved in training nominated their trainers to benefit from this offer. At the end of both courses, participants sat a PHP accreditation exam that qualifies them to become internationally recognized PHP programmers.  The main objective of this initiative is to bridge the present gap between graduate skills and the pressing technical skills' needed by the market, which will enhance graduates chances to access better employment opportunities, and will reduce unemployment rates amongst ICT graduates in Jordan.

Dr Samir Ahmad Bani Ata, lecturer in Al Al-Bayt University in Mafraq described the course he attended at ARCANA for Training and Development, member of Luminus Education and how he believes it will influence his career.  He said "The course gave me full knowledge and awareness on levels of different topics on the networks, and its relations to data security, credibility, and other programming topics.  The PHP will be linked to the university plan and new courses in PHP programming will be launched in the next semester, as we will open two courses, and will teach the different topics we tackled in the Course.  I will also ensure students realize the importance of PHP and the work opportunities it will open for them.  Personally, I think this training and the certification will help in my plans for career development."
