Philips TV Named Green TV of the Year
Philips 42PF7621D Flat TV was named European Green TV of the Year; the EISA judges noted how impressed they were by the product's very low power consumption: 15 percent less than that of its nearest competitor. They also appreciated the fact that its components can be easily separated at the end of its life for recycling or safe disposal.
The award is a positive reflection of Philips efforts to make products that are increasingly energy efficient. Such products, known as Philips 'Green Flagship Products', perform better than their nearest competitors or predecessors in areas such as energy consumption, weight, hazardous substances, lifetime reliability and recycling and disposal.
It's also recognition of Philips achievement in TV production, an achievement backed up by the same panel of judges naming our 37PF9731D Flat TV the European High-end LCD TV of the Year. They noted its impressive picture quality - for both High and standard definition signals - its user-friendly set-up and its use of Ambilight Surround to enhance the viewing experience by projecting ambient light from three sides of the set.
Together the two awards are proof that when it comes to TVs, to new technology and to sustainable production, Philips is very much a front runner.
With a membership of 50 audio, mobile electronics, video and photography magazines drawn from 20 European countries, EISA is Europe's largest editorial multimedia organization.
Each year, it reviews the latest products from consumer electronics and photographic manufacturers to determine the best in each category. Winning products are judged on their advanced technology, design, ergonomics, most desirable features and greatest value for money.
