Dubai- UAE - Philips and ARASCA Medical Equipments Trading LLC donated 2 HeartStart FRx Defibrillators unites to the rescue team of the UAE Desert Challenge.

The UAE Desert Challenge was conceived by Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the President of the Emirates Automobile and Touring Club, is uniquely qualified in his role having very considerable experience as a competitor and an organizer together with unparalleled knowledge of the desert, local customs and protocol.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, whose motorsport career goes back to the early 80's, with a record of 14 FIA Middle East titles to his name, is the driving force behind the UAE Desert Challenge. Sulayen launched the Desert Challenge in 1991, and over the years, as chairman of the organizing committee, has employed the same determination which the Middle East's supreme rally driver to establish the event as a major international success.

The UAE Desert Challenge is the final round of both the 2007 FIA Cross Country World Cup and the 2007 FIM Cross Country World Championship based in the city of Dubai. The event begins with a ceremonial Start in Abu Dhabi and heads south into the desert for the first of five hard days of stages.

The Philips HeartStart FRx Defibrillator is designed to be as easy to use and is equipped to direct rescuers through the resuscitation of a SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest) victim. The HeartStart FRx guides through every step with clear, calm voice commands and descriptive visual icons. The FRx even reminds the rescuer to call emergency medical services (EMS).

About the Desert Challenge
The United Arab Emirates, founded in 1971, comprise seven Emirates; Ajman, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al Khaima, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain. The terrain varies from the bare rock mountains of the north and east to the spectacular sand desert that runs south into Saudi Arabia and is the northern edge of the Rub al Khali - the "Empty Quarter".

The event spans six days, starting with the Prologue, a spectator "show" stage in Dubai which serves as a qualifying stage ie establishes the running order for the main event in the desert. The event begins with a ceremonial Start in Abu Dhabi and heads south into the desert for the first of five hard days of stages. The desert base, the "Bivouac", is located at a new site, the Moreeb Hill, the sixty degree slipface of which is used as a hill climb in a unique and rapidly developing niche sport.
