London, 20 May 2003. Panduit Ltd has announced new initiatives to enhance and expand upon their existing range of educational and training programmes for the network infrastructure industry. Panduit, along with Adobe Systems, Hewlett-Packard and Sun Microsystems, is one of only four leading technology companies who have partnered with Cisco to sponsor courses in the ‘Cisco Networking Academy™’ Programme. Furthermore, Panduit is the only cabling manufacturer in the world to be chosen as a Cisco Service Provider Solutions Ecosystem partner.

The Academy is a global, e-learning programme that was established in 1997 to reduce the gap in demand for IT and networking skills across the world. The 10640 Academies that now exist provide students, aged 16-60, from 149 countries across the world, with Internet technology skills that are essential in today’s global economy. Academies have also been established in 29 of the world’s 48 least developed countries and, through their ‘Gender Initiative,’ Cisco actively encourages female enrolment to the Academy.

As part of their dedication to help raise industry standards, Panduit is now set to launch new collateral to promote their sponsored course, ‘Fundamental of Voice and Data Cabling’ (FVDC), which has enjoyed tremendous success to date. The in-depth, hands-on FVDC course is an excellent entry point to the technology industry, in particular to networking. The curriculum focuses on physical aspects of voice and data network cabling and installation, as well as emerging cabling technologies, and covers a broad range of topics ranging from signal transmission to health and safety issues.

New promotional material from Panduit will target students, academies and the industry as a whole to raise awareness of the benefits of cabling education. The course is to be made more accessible to academies with limited resources, by giving them affordable access to equipment for training. Panduit has made further investments to guarantee classes are taught to the highest possible standard and Panduit will also promote the programme to their partners such as Panduit Certified Installers (PCI’s), as a valuable way to recruit local, skilled graduates. By increasing the course’s adoption rate, Panduit will ensure even more of tomorrow’s workers are equipped with in-demand skills to meet evolving industry needs.

Panduit’s cabling expertise was also put to use during the annual Cisco ‘Networkers’ conference in Copenhagen at the end of 2002. Networkers is the leading technical users conference in the networking industry, which brings professionals together to educate and exchange ideas and showcases new technology, applications and trends. Panduit was the only cabling manufacturer in the world to participate in Networkers 2002 and one of only four EMEA 2003 Cisco Metro Ethernet Solution Technology Partners. Panduit’s stand in the technology area featured their Panview™ solution as part of a managed network and demonstrated how it enables delivery of triple play (Video, Voice and Data) by bringing intelligence to the physical layer. Panduit also participated in Metro Ethernet training to delegates. The conference was attended by many industry experts and top executives including Cisco’s CEO John Chambers who presented on “Network Enabled Productivity.”
