Dubai, September 7th, 2004: BITS, Pilani - Dubai Campus (BITSPDC) conducted an Orientation Day for freshers joining its undergraduate programme for the 2004-05 academic year. Set up in association with ETA-NET, a member of ETA-ASCON Group, and located in Dubai's Knowledge Village, BITSPDC that started with two programs and 60 students four years ago, now offers four programs to nearly 600 students.

BITSPDC, located at Block No.11, Dubai Knowledge Village, offers four-year undergraduate programs that include B.E (Hons) Computer Science, B.E. (Hons) Electrical & Electronics, B.E. (Hons) Electronics and Instrumentation and B.E. (Hons) Mechanical.

BITSPDC has attracted students from the UAE, the GCC and India. International quality labs have been set up and instruction and evaluation are designed with the same rigor as on the Pilani campus. Practice Schools I and II have put students into internships with nearly 50 leading local and multinational companies.

BITSPDC's courses, curricula, textbooks, evaluation methodology and academic regulations are identical to that at BITS, Pilani, which closely monitors progress at the Dubai campus. BITSPDC students are awarded degrees by BITS, Pilani, India.

The first batch of students from BITSPDC graduated in June 2004. Most have been placed with local industry and business houses. Others are to continue with higher education in USA, Canada and India.

As part of the Orientation Program, Dr. S. Venkateswaran, Vice Chancellor, BITS, Pilani, India and Dr. M. Ramachandran, Director, BITS, Pilani - Dubai Campus addressed students.
