Kuwait, Kuwait City: In its continuous endeavor to enrich the digital experience of individuals, Ooredoo Telecom, the first to introduce innovative digital services in Kuwait, announced the launch of Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi), a free service for all Ooredoo Kuwait individual customers with prepaid and postpaid voice plans, enabling them to make calls over a Wi-Fi connection and send short text messages.
This comes as part of the company’s commitment to develop its network, enhance voice services and provide a better voice communication experience for mobile users across the State of Kuwait.
VoWiFi will help in solving weak smartphone signals and dropped calls in areas with poor coverage, such as high-rise residential buildings, basements, offices and remote branches. Once the smartphone picks up a reliable and secure Wi-Fi network, the call will be transferred between the phone network and the Wi-Fi network automatically and smoothly without any interruption of the call. In short, customers can use VoWiFi to make voice and video calls in any location that has a Wi-Fi network, even when there is no mobile network reception.
The service is available without any additional fees, while voice and internet calls will be charged according to the package, and without the need to download any application.
The new Voice over WiFi service will deliver faster call setup and superior high-quality (HD) voice calls. The service is currently applicable to iPhone 6 or later models with customers required to update their phone to the latest iOS software to enjoy the service. Owners of Apple Cellular Watches of all series can also enjoy the service, hence, the watch must be on watch OS 8.3 or later. Further, the service is applicable to Huawei P and Mate series 30 and above, OnePlus 10 and later, as well as Honor 50 series. However, the service will be soon available on other devices including Samsung and Xiaomi.
