Two new models in the latest CanoScan LiDE series of scanners provide super-high quality scans at up to 1200dpi in a super slim line, stylish package

Dubai, UAE – 20 November 2002 – Canon Middle East has brought to the Middle East market two new models in its brand new “LiDE” series of flatbed scanners, providing great value and a host of features to the home and office user. The CanoScan LiDE 20 and LiDE 30 provide true-life 48-bit colour scans, with the outstanding image fidelity that Canon’s heritage in professional optics and digital image processing offers. The new scanners have a stylish design with an ultra-slim  profile – and thanks to Canon’s unique energy-efficient LiDE technology, no AC adapter is needed. Connecting just the data USB cable is required to run the scanner perfectly.
Both new devices feature the 3 ‘EZ’ buttons to make scanning, copying and e-mailing a snap, and powerful new software provides the ability to scan multiple photos or images in a single pass.

The CanoScan LiDE 20 is a 600x1200dpi model, the perfect scanner for entry-level users and first time buyers. The CanoScan LiDE 30 is a 1200x2400dpi resolution device, with all the features of the LiDE 20, plus an aluminium finish lid and twice the optical resolution, making it ideally suited to mainstream scanning requirements from corporate or the more demanding home user.

Style and design

‘LiDE’ (LED Indirect Exposure) is an advanced scanning technology developed and brought to market by Canon. LiDE allows substantial reduction in the number and size of individual components needed to produce a scanner, without sacrificing performance or quality. This is mainly achieved via the use of super small, low power LED light source and the integration of optics (lens elements) directly onto the scanning sensor. Traditional CCD devices require large fluorescent lamp light sources and a series of mirrors and lenses to focus light onto the scanning sensor.

LiDE scanners are extremely compact, generate very low noise levels and require tiny amounts of power so that only a USB connection is required to power the device. LiDE scanners are one connection plug & play.Scanner Specifications
