Muscat, Oman, 27 May 2013: The Oman Mining and Quarrying 2013 Summit was organised by IQPC Middle East in coordination with Global Exhibitions & Conferences LLC (GEC) at the Golden Tulip in Muscat. The first edition of this summit attracted over 18 expert speakers - both national and international - and over 60 industry professionals, whose major interest was in implementing new techniques and technologies to improve their operational productivity and efficiency in their current mining and quarrying projects.

The conference featured speakers including; Tariq Barwani, the Chief Executive Officer of Mawarid Mining; Marcos Beluco, the Chief Executive Officer of Vale;  Younis Al Amri, the Chief Executive Officer of the Gulf Triangle Group; Hilal Al Azri, the Former Director General - Mineral and Metals from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry; Henry Antwi, the Head of Mining at Oman Oil; AV Sthapak, the Exploration Manager at Alara Resources Limited and many other renowned speakers.

The two-day event also received the support from Vale, Aurum Exploration, Vermeer, CDE Global, Al Fajar Al Alamia, Orica, CMCI and Sandvik Mining, whose prime motivation to sponsor this conference was to educate and showcase new technologies, products and services to mining and quarrying companies, who could implement these within their mining and quarrying projects to improve their productivity and bottom line profits.

The conference programme also covered an extensive range of topics including: satisfying global demands by showcasing key underground mining projects in Oman, latest developments in the materials washing and classification equipment, techniques to ensure continuous production during high demand, benefits of better project management, problems and challenges faced and investing in the mineral sector in Oman and more.
