O2, the leading provider of premium mobile data devices in Asia Pacific, today announces that their latest PDA-phone, the Xda Atom Exec, will operate on a completely Arabised platform.
This is strike two in O2's ongoing partnership with Informobility, the leading Middle East-based provider of mobile and wireless products, services and solutions. The Xda Atom Exec will be the first in O2's range of products to run on a fully Arabised platform.
Manoj Bhatia, Chief Executive Officer, Unitec, O2's appointed distributor in the UAE said,
'The market response to the Arabic overlay bundled with the Xda Atom and Xda Atom Pure has been encouraging. Since then, we have had a lot of requests from customers for products by O2 that run on a fully Arabised platform. The market spoke and O2 listened. Xda Atom Exec will operate on a completely Arabised platform and customers can expect future mobile data devices to be ideal for the UAE market.'
The Xda Atom Exec is geared toward meeting the needs of rising professionals and high-flyers in the business world. It retains the key propositions of the Xda Atom, including its compact size; sleek design; and core functions, with new, upgraded software, enhanced features and improvements in speed and storage capacity.
Customers of the Xda Atom Exec can enjoy full Arabic text and layout support across all features. This includes synchronisation with Microsoft Office and Outlook, as well as full support for Internet Explorer, MSN chat, and SMS/MMS.
The device comes with a suite of Arabic-centric applications that users will find useful, like Pocket Quran and Prayer Times. The former, a popular request by customers, offers an intuitive layout with various zoom and audio options for quick and easy chapter reference; while the latter is an enhanced version of what was previously offered on the Xda Atom and Xda Atom Pure.
O2 entered into a strategic alliance with Informobility in July to bundle its Xda Atom and Xda Atom Pure with its Fee Jeibi Ein (FJE) series of Arabised products.
Ayad Sleiman, President of Informobility said, "We are thrilled to be able to work with O2 once again to roll out customised solutions to benefit users who are most comfortable communicating and working in their native language. We foresee a long and fruitful partnership ahead, as we continue to innovate and offer solutions to meet unmet customer needs throughout the GCC.'
Frank Levering, Software Development Manager, O2 Asia Pacific said, 'We always say O2 puts customers at the heart of everything we do. This is a clear demonstration of our commitment to that promise, which has been our guiding principle since we entered the Middle East on day one. We see real benefits to introducing fully Arabised products to our Middle East customers; and are happy that O2, Unitec and Informobility can collaborate to bring these benefits to life. It is great to offer this to our local customers in time for the festive season.'
The Arabised Xda Atom Exec is available now. Customers who have already purchased the O2 Xda Atom Exec can get their device upgraded to the Arabised ROM at O2 service centres or via SeeO2.com.
