Roads & Transport Authority - Nashwan Attaa'ee: The Public Transport Agency has recently released new designs of public bus schedules and routes map in Dubai Emirate in a newly dressed fashion characterized by simple & stylish designs, easy-to-use by bus commuters in the Emirate.

The CEO of RTA Public Transport Agency Abdul Mohsin Al Dosari said: "The Agency is always keen on delivering best-in-class services to the users of mass transit systems in Dubai through introducing the best practices of the industry. These maps mark a quantum shift in upgrading the services rendered to bus users in the Emirate.

"The teams set by the Agency have recently embarked on the installation of these newly designed bus timetables in all air-conditioned and non air-conditioned bus stops, main bus stations and bus stops of the feeder bus service in the vicinity of metro stations. These charts show bus trips timetables, headway (service interval), and time taken between bus stops," he continued.

Al Dosari added: "These routes have been produced in specific colour codes in order to make them readily eligible. All route colours are standardized in all schedules and routes network. The bus route maps in Dubai have also been distributed and installed in air-conditioned bus stops, main bus stations, metro stations and RTA customer service centers.

"Users of these maps will be able to identify their whereabouts and accordingly know which route will best serve their destinations. These maps, which are being installed at the Main Bus Stations and Metro Stations, are divided into three main sections; the first shows the overall transit routes network in Dubai, the second one shows routes passing across the point in which the user is currently in, and the third one shows all the key geographical locations & landmarks in the vicinity of the point in which the user is currently available in the form of 3-D icons of these landmarks within a circle of a 500 meter-long diameter. This step has been taken as a result of carrying out field surveys & studies and reviewing the best global practices of the industry," he continued.

The CEO of Public Transport Agency further added: "The new designs have been well received by the public as the Agency, in cooperation with the Marketing & Corporate Communication Dep't, carried out a field survey to screen a wide segment of bus commuters from various nationalities in Dubai, as well as bus drivers, and bus station controllers to probe their views about different design models. Most respondents fancied this design and applauded the way the new maps has been designed rendering them easy-to-use in terms of tracking and added features such as places & districts of Dubai including malls, tourist facilities, government departments, businesses and other vital areas.

It is worth-mentioning that the Bus Route Chart comprises the start point, arrival point, headway, starting time of the first & last service, and bus stops located along that route.
